Our story

The Getaway Concepts story started when the founders were asked to help a friend with building a houseboat – which was an old style flat bottomed box on a punt.  Whilst this vessel was functional it lacked the requirements necessary for todays adventurous population.

It didn’t take much research to find out that though there were plenty of others who had tried to solve this problem – most of the designs were lacking in style, maneuverability and luxury.  The boats that were available were literally caravans or campers on water.  To build them narrow enough to tow, they were lacking in the stability required to explore a wider range of waterways.  They were difficult for people to get them in and out of the water but above all they were completely outdated in appearance.  The Getaway team became determined to redesign the whole concept of a trailerable houseboat.

The resulting patented design of our Reflection XXVIII trailerable houseboat takes features from modern super yachts and pleasure cruisers.  The result is both stylish and completely user friendly and able to be operated by anyone.  To transport this modern livable vessel  the conventional boat trailer was also given a “make over” to accommodate its cargo of both houseboat and any other items required for a getaway holiday – canoes – even  jet skies and to allow easy access into the boat whether on land or for trouble free of launching and retrieving vessel all in the one package.

Getaway Concepts is continuing to look outside the square with plans for solar panels, green self powering boats and self-renewing energy sources.  As well as a flat platform or party boat that will give our clients choices from a high speed offshore fish/dive vessel  through to a sedate very comfortable energy efficient house boat.
